The Port of Moses Lake, in collaboration with the Columbia Basin Conservation District has released a new short film showcasing the transformative benefits of the W20 Lateral Extension Project — a critical regional water infrastructure investment designed to help secure the Columbia Basin’s future.
The film highlights three primary benefits of the W20 Project:
Reliable Municipal and Industrial Water Supply
W20 will provide a sustainable, long-term surface water supply to support municipal growth and industrial expansion. By reducing reliance on declining groundwater sources, the project strengthens regional water security and enables continued economic development.
Improved Water Quality in Moses Lake
The project contributes to improved water quality in Moses Lake by delivering Columbia River surface water through the lake system, increasing circulation and lower-phosphorus water, thus helping reduce the frequency and severity of harmful algal blooms. Enhanced water quality supports healthier ecosystems, expands recreational opportunities, strengthens tourism and local businesses, and improves overall quality of life for residents and visitors alike
Increased Capacity and Flexibility for Irrigation Delivery
W20 enhances operational flexibility and capacity within the Columbia Basin Project, improving the ability to deliver irrigation water efficiently and reliably to one of the nation’s most productive agricultural regions.
This short film tells the story of how strategic water infrastructure investment supports economic vitality, environmental stewardship, and long-term community sustainability across Grant County and the greater Columbia Basin.
The Port invites community members, partners, and stakeholders to view and share the film as momentum continues to build behind this important regional project.
