The W20 Lateral Extension Project continues to gain strong regional support, most recently from the Columbia Basin Sustainable Water Coalition (CBSWC). In February, the CBSWC Board formally approved a letter of support for the project, joining a growing coalition of local partners committed to advancing sustainable water solutions in the Columbia Basin.

This support follows a January presentation to CBSWC by Kevin Richards, Engineer of Record for the Port of Moses Lake, President of Western Pacific Engineering & Survey, and Program Manager for the W20 Extension Project, alongside Dan Roach, Executive Director of the Port of Moses Lake. The presentation outlined the project’s scope, regional need, and long-term benefits.

The Columbia Basin Sustainable Water Coalition is dedicated to promoting sustainable water management across the region through collaboration, education, and advocacy. The coalition works to support solutions that balance agricultural, municipal, and environmental water needs while ensuring long-term water reliability for the Columbia Basin.

The W20 Project aligns closely with this mission. As a locally led water infrastructure initiative, W20 is designed to deliver region-wide benefits across Grant County and the greater Columbia Basin. The project will strengthen municipal water supplies, conserve groundwater resources, improve water quality, and provide important operational capacity and flexibility for the Columbia Basin Project.

CBSWC’s support reflects the shared commitment among regional partners to invest in resilient, forward-looking water infrastructure that benefits communities, agriculture, and the environment alike.
